It’s giving ‘Thanks’ time of the year. I truly don’t believe that this should be limited to one month let alone one day of the year. We actually should wake up and go to bed giving thanks for the amazing blessings we have on a daily basis. And if you think you’ve had a hard day and may not have a lot to be thankful for… consider this. If you have running water and toilet you’re in the top half of the ‘lucky’ in this world. More than 2.5 billion people worldwide lack access to basic sanitation services, and around 748 men, women, and children don’t have clean water on tap. So let us put this into perspective and truly count our blessings…
Let me spare you the gushy personal thanks I have and let me share with you my ‘Chiropractic’ thanks.
I’m thankful that I got thrown into this crazy profession even without getting an adjustment until I was in school. I have the blessing to help people see their true potential in life through their health. I’m thankful that I don’t rely on medicine and I have the mentality that I will never stop trying to avoid meds with my lifestyle choices/decisions/habits. The pharmaceutical company is not trying to improve your life, they are trying to create customers for life. Sorry but it’s true. I’m most thankful for the amazing people I have the pleasure to call my ‘practice members’ (aka patients). They trust me their health and their bodies. They trust me to treat their kids - from a couple days old all the way up to 18. They trust me with their elderly parents. I am occasionally dumbfounded by this trust and never take it lightly.
On my graduation day my sister who is a nurse wrote me a note saying that it’s an amazing job to take care of people. It’s gratifying work but it’s also a huge responsibility. I had no idea what was truly in the making for me! I thank each and every one of you for allowing me this amazing opportunity.
